An After Effects alternative your AI agent can drive

After Effects is made for hands on a timeline. AgentFX is made for an agent with a text editor: the same building blocks as text, plus effects that are hard to get in After Effects without plugins.

How After Effects concepts map to AgentFX.
After EffectsAgentFX
Layers, precompsLayers, nest, components
Keyframes and the graph editoranim tracks with named eases, cubic curves and physical springs
Text animatorsanimate by=char|word|line with range selectors, variable font axes
Expressions driven by audioaudio(level|band|onset), beat and bar anchors
CameraWorld camera, tours, infinite zoom loops, 2.5D parallax
Plugins for fluid, particles, shatterBuilt in, seeded and deterministic
Render queue, Media EncoderOne command, every aspect ratio, GPU and hardware encoders
3D layers, footage compositing, rotoNot yet. Use After Effects for these.

Effects you would buy plugins for

  • simulation

    Fluid and ink

A real 2D fluid solver: pour, stir, dissolve a word into ink, reveal a layout through a stain. Seeded, so every render is identical.

  • simulation

    Shatter

Voronoi fracture for text, logos and shapes, with the pieces driven by the same physics, then rewound back together.

  • time

    Slit-scan and time displacement

Every row of the image comes from a different moment. Needs the frames before and after, which a screenshot renderer never has.

  • look

    Glitch

Block glitch and datamosh-style tearing, seeded and animatable per layer.

  • look

    Halftone, riso and grain

Print looks rendered per frame: halftone dots, risograph misregistration, paper and film grain.

  • audio

    Audio visualizer and beat sync

Spectrum, waveform and radial visualizers, plus any property driven by the music. Cut on the beat with bar and beat anchors.

FAQ

Is AgentFX free?

Yes. AgentFX is open source under the Apache 2.0 licence.

Can I import After Effects projects?

No. AgentFX does not read .aep files. Your agent rebuilds the motion from a description, a storyboard or a reference video.

Do I need to know code?

No. You talk to your agent; the agent writes the script. The script is readable if you want to adjust a value yourself.

Put an effects engine in your agent's hands.

AgentFX is open source under Apache 2.0. Clone it, build it, give the skill to your agent. Questions, ideas and effect requests are welcome on GitHub.
